The Constitution of
The Awesome Dudes Fraternity/ Sorority of Alpha Delta
The University of Mississippi
Missionstatement:
Alpha Delta was founded to provide a platform where people can come together, exchange their cultures, discuss their different world views and have fun together.
Preamble:
We, the undersigned students of "The Awesome Dudes Fraternity / Sorority of Alpha Delta" of the University of Mississippi, in order to promote a higher standard of cultural exchange and equality for all human beings, and desiring to unite ourselves in the endearing bonds of affection and love for the purpose of encompassing these ends, do associate ourselves into a Fraternity / Sorority to be known as the "The Awesome Dude Fraternity / Sorority of Alpha Delta" (2006).
Article I
Name:
The name of this Fraternity / Sorority is " The Awesome Dudes Fraternity / Sorority of Alpha Delta ".
Article II
Membership
Everybody of the academic society is allowed to join this community.
Section 1)
This Fraternity / Sorority shall consist of students all over the world and it should contain a maximum of different cultures and personalities. It is an academically based society whose objectives are to exchange different cultures, ideas, and beliefs at the highest academic level
Section 2)
There is no fee to pay to become an official member of this community.
Section 3)
All members should be students, staff, or faculty at The University of Mississippi or members of the academic society all over the world.
Section 4)
Women and Men are treated equally. Both have the same right to join this community.
Section 5)
Every culture and religion is treated equally. There shall be no discrimination on the basis of race, sex, age, colour, religion, disability, or national origin.
Article III
Hierarchical Structure
Every member is equal and the basic structure of this organization is based on the principles of democracy.
Section 1)
The officers of the organization can be any member of "The Awesome Dudes Fraternity / Sorority of Alpha Delta".
Section 2)
Officers shall be elected by general elections at the second last meeting at the end of each semester.
Section 3)
Officers have no special privileges and have to act in the interest of the majority of the members.
Section 4)
Each officer should be enrolled at The University of Mississippi as a student at the time of election or appointment and for the duration of the term he/she serves.
Article IV
Officers Responsibilities
President:
- Act as the official representative of "The Awesome Dudes Fraternity / Sorority of Alpha Delta".
- Arrange and preside over all meeting of the AD assembly and call such meetings as necessary.
- Meet with AD Advisor and Student Leaders Counsel when necessary about matters concerning AD and to give a verbal update of duties performed since last meeting.
- Attend and actively participate in all AD meetings.
- Uphold all aspects of AD and its bylaws.
- Coordinate the activities of AD.
Vice President:
- Assume the responsibilities of the President upon his/her absence.
- Assume the responsibilities of the President upon his/her resignation.
- Execute all official correspondence of AD
- Attend and actively participate in all AD meetings.
- Uphold all aspects of AD and its bylaws.
- Coordinate the activities of AD.
Treasurer
- Maintain all financial records of AD.
- Keep the AD budget balanced and request funding from SPB, ASB, Campus Programming and International Programs as necessary
- Attend and actively participate in all AD meetings.
- Uphold all aspects of AD and its bylaws.
- Help coordinating the activities of AD.
Webmaster
- The webmaster shall be responsible for updating and maintaining the AD website
- Uphold all aspects of AD and its bylaws.
Article V
Amendment and Ratification
Section 1)
This constitution may be amended at any time by a majority vote of 2/3 of the active membership.
Section 2)
Nothing contained in this constitution shall in any way limit the final authority of The University of Mississippi.
Section 3)
Ratification of this constitution shall be following approval of the membership, and approval and acceptance of the Committee on Students Organizations and/or the Office of the Dean of Students.
Section 4)
Upon Ratification of this constitution, all other previous constitutions shall be null and void
